How To: Troubleshoot Data Connection Issue on the Sensation 4G

The Sensation 4G is HTC’s current flagship Android device, along with the Evo 3D and is one of the best smartphones on the market right now, but be advised some Sensation owners are running into a problem acquiring or holding a 4G data connection. Believe it or not, some of the problems users are encountering may stem from their history with T-Mobile.

Though these are not the only possibilities causing handshake issues with 4G devices on T-Mobiles network the items listed below could be factors you can take upon yourself to check before giving up on the quality of HTC blazing fast phone.

If you are a previous customer and simply used the SIM from your old phone it may be a non 4G compatible SIM card. Check the contents from your recent purchase of the Sensation for a SIM that should have been included. If you are unable to locate it or are unsure if the one you have is compatible visit your nearest retail store for assistance.

  • Although calling the service center does not sound that appealing, you may want to call to verify your data plan is a true 4G plan and not something carried over from the service for your last phone. Keywords to include should be “Data SOC” and “4G Plan.”
  • If the previous tips do not resolve the issue (reboots may be required) go old school and dial *#*#4636#*#* and press Phone InformationToggle Ciphering to OFF,Turn off Radio, Turn on Radio, and Toggle Ciphoring to ON.

Congratulations if you are a lucky owner of the HTC Sensation 4G on the T-Mobile network. I hope these help ease the frustrations one can have when a phone does not work properly, but please know this is not like the antenna issue on the Apple iPhone 4. This issue is a work in progress by the service provider company.
