I have to admit my dreams were not totally smashed when Microsoft declared the HD2 un-upgradeable to WP7. Although I did take a hard swallow when I heard the news I have witnessed what the online community can do with a challenge. XDA developers have now successfully booted the HD2 with Windows Phone 7 and I am sure the near future will bring us more videos and a quick guide to "do it yourself." I personally own the HD2 and love it, but sometimes I get this dated feeling when I am using it. For the past couple weeks I have had the opportunity to test the Evo 4G and the Droid Incredible, both with Android 2.1 featuring the Sense User Interface. The look and feel of Android and Sense seems to fill the gap I have with my current user experience and after watching the video below I am extremely close to making the plunge. For those of you enjoying the HD2's ridiculously large screen like I am this hack certainly saved me from the only grief I have with the lock screen. Check out this article from pocketnow.com. In it is a demonstration of how to position the slider to the middle or bottom of the screen as well as add some custom text.
