Rumor: New Flagship Phone Headed to Verizon Called HTC Vigor

Rumors about the HTC Vigor have been around for a while and the possible official name has been out there for even longer (Droid Incredible HD), but they heated up the day the partnership with Beats by Dre was announced earlier this month. Some clear and more official pictures have surfaced and made their way to DroidLife.com, which always seems to have very credible information by the way. The HTC Vigor is going to be a force to be reckoned with when it hits store shelves later this year, but as of today a release date is unknown. The colors and design imply the phone is going to Verizon and for it to be a flagship phone it better have 4G.

So far we can tell from the images leaked this phone will obviously have the HTC Sense user interface, has the same characteristics of the HTC Incredible and HTC Incredible 2, a front facing camera, Android, and a large screen. Now rumors have reported the HTC Vigor of having an 8 MP camera, the latest version of the HTC Sense UI and Android, 4G/LTE, an HD display with 1280 x 800 resolution, 16 GB of internal storage, 1 GB of RAM, and an impressive 1.5 GHz dual-core processor by Qualcomm. Also rumored is some form of technology from Beats by Dre, most likely a hardware extra, but speculators would like to see something software related from the audio technology company.

The deal with Beats by Dre is one that HTC hopes will encourage customers to select their Android devices over others, because the decision will partially be based off the customers lifestyle. HTC has recently invested other money in online services not to mention the release of HTC Watch on the HTC Evo 3D , HTC Evo View 4G, and the HTC Sensation which is like a movie vault. Also worth a mention is their online service HTCSense.com which allows the owner to make the phone ring even when it is on silent and cannot be found around the house as well as makes it possible to completely wipe if lost or stolen.

What are your thoughts about this upcoming phone? Will this phone and the fact that Verizon was recently recognized to have the most reliable networks in the Southeast encourage any users from other carriers to switch? I am just waiting for a release date… and my current contract to end. Check out the video below HTC has released on their YouTube channel about Beats by Dre.
