Some good news today from Taiwan, HTC sets an expected sales goal of $4.8 million in the 4th quarter of new handsets. With all the success of recent Android releases one would expect the upcoming lineup to be made up of more Android smartphones, but apparently this is not the case. The lineup will include several handsets running Windows Phone 7. This means the new OS must be nearing a version suitable for public consumption.
Some names mentioned for US release are: HTC Mozart (T-Mobile), HTC Scorpion (Verizon), and possibly one from AT&T. For the Android fanatics, there is the rumored HTC Vision that may be dual core processed, but is purely speculation at this point. Another rumor tagging along with the WP7 handsets is they may be running the latest Snapdragon processor at 1.3 GHz. It is hard to say how successful the 4th quarter will be for HTC as they give “old faithful” another shot in the spotlight. By “old faithful” I mean the Windows Mobile platform.
